Date: July 8th 2011
Greetings to all!
July has arrived and I pray this letter finds folks well. Before, I get rolling on the things happening on this end, let me mention attached is the newsletter for July. Feel free to utilize the newsletter for your own edification or for your congregations. This months puzzle is probably a bit easier than some, but it is a bit tricky too. Enjoy!
As for myself and my family, we are settling into our new home in Ohio. There has been a lot of tree cutting, wood chopping, burning, plumbing, and construction/destruction. Our home was minus a furnace, heat pump, and water heater when we first began, but all is functioning now and just in time for the heat to hit. We are really enjoying the new place and remembering what "dark" really means since we are now out away from cities again. We are also discovering the joys of ticks, poison ivy/oak, and insects (as you will see from the newsletter). Of interesting note is the fact that we have a honey bee hive in the soffit of our cabin. Removing them is going to "bee" an experience I have no doubt and I may just have to write about it next month. I am hoping it is a sweet experiment and not a stinging reminder that I know nothing about bees.
I was able to attend a couple of nice lectureships this month as well as enjoy the Fredericktown Church of Christ VBS. I taught a lesson Good Stewardship and Time during the VBS, but have yet to upload it. However, I did upload 6 other sermons given at the start of this month. Do not forget there is a lectureship in Courtland Alabama the 27-29th of July - The Preachersfiles Lectureships which I attend each year. This year I will be speaking on "How Much Should I Date?". The theme of the lectureship is "Ancient Problems in Modern Times". There will be a number of speakers and I encourage anyone who is nearby to come out.
Though my schedule is pretty full through August, I am available and trying to fill time for the remainder of this year and into next for gospel meetings or Saturday seminars. Wherever you are, I will be willing to talk to you about coming out. This year I want to focus on the topics of Marriage, Dancing, Alcohol, Legalism, the Holy Spirit, the Plan of salvation, and the 70 AD doctrine. However, if something else interests you I would be willing to tackle it given the time.
Time for me to get back to work! Have a good month!
God Bless,
Travis Main
